Caserta (Royal Palace) - Pizza - Napoli (Highlights)

Your private driver will greet you at your accommodation (or Naples train station), after a brief presentation you will be accompanied to the luxurious vehicle where our staff will offer you every comfort you need. After that they will give you important information about the tour and the places that you are going to visit.

Caserta, once called “La Torre” (The Tower) due to the Torre of the Acquaviva of the Aragonesi, is one of the most important city of the Campania Region. Its growth starts in the 19th century. This ancient urban development is visible thanks to the historical center called “Caserta Vecchia” (Old Caserta). But the most important part of the city is the “ Royal Palace ”, an amazing building mastership of the artist Luigi Vanvitelli. The Reggia is located in Plaza Carlo III. The building was commissioned to Vanvitelli by Carlo di Borbone, it should have witnessed the power of the Borbone family in Italy and in the same time substite the Palace of Naples due to the political instability of that period. The palace has lived many stories, it was bombed in the 1943 during the World War II, it was the place were the surrender of German troupes in Italy was signed in 1945, and was even the set for a Star Wars movie. Majestic outside, inside are the royal apartments, a very fancy examples of interior design of the ‘800. Well known are the gardens outside called “Giardino Inglese” (English Garden) due to its constructor Andrew Garfner and the typically english layout. Built for the Queen Maria Carolina d’Austria, the gardens have so many different trees, flowers, plants, statues, lakes and the famous “Casino all’Inglese” by Vanvitelli.

All the history is amazing, but after a long stroll in the Reggia is now time for the lunch. Why do not try the famous Neapolitan Pizza? Enjoy the original Pizza in the place it was originally created. Taste a traditional but still delicious margherita or Marinara pizza, or enjoy a more creative one with local toppings.

We will then go to the Naples.Today Naples is culturally and politically speaking one of the most important city of all Italy. Many of the main characteristics that come up to mind when people abroad think of the Italians were born here. The idea of extrovert, singer, dancer of tarantella, player of Mandolino, cunning, Italian who enjoys the sun and the sea are actually from here.

Walking along the “lungomare” you can admire the beauties of the city: the landscapes, the sea, the sun and the flourished villas among which the “Villa comunale” where you can find local aquarium. On Margellina street you will find the “Castello dell’ovo”, a legendary castle situated in the sea linked to the ground through a stone bridge. In this magical place it is said that the poet and magician Virgilius used to spell his casts.

But it is not the only castle, not very far from there there is the “Castel nuovo” or “Maschio Angioino”, a “must” here in Naples. You can visit the apartments inside, the towers and even the dungeons where, according to the legends, there was giant crocodile that used to devour the prisoners locked in the cage. And last but not least the “Castel Sant’Elmo”, on the top of the hill next to the “Certosa di San Martino”. A majestic building, from the roof you can sea the entire city of Naples.

Besides the castles there are hundreds of museums and other buildings that are historically important, such as the “Palazzo Reale” (Royal Palace), house of the Royal family and today a museum where the visitors can admire the fancy apartments, the ballet hall, the paintings and the gardens. Next to the Royal Palace, the National library, giant library that hosts unique and original books signed by the most important writers, philosophers and historians; and the Piazza Pebliscito a extremely wide Plaza, or “Teatro San Carlo” an ancient and beautiful theatre you can both visit it and book a ticket for a play.

Before leaving your private driver please agree upon the time to leave. Then the driver will recommend a suitable time to reach the train station in order to catch your train to get back after this lovely day!

Can't say enough about Gio and how he just made our trip complete. From singing Italian to us, well to my wife to just making us feel like he was family. When you plan your almafi trip you must get Gio to take you around. Truly amazing.

from Brisbane, Australia

I have been to Europe a few times and can honestly say that Amalfi Coast Tours offer the best service by far. Thanks to Gio and the team our stay on Amalfi Coast was the most memorable part our Italia trip. The knowledge and history shared was first class, we had lots of laughs on our travels and I was even serenaded in Italiano which brought me to tears. We were picked up from Naples train station, visited Mt Vesuvius, toured the coast line and dropped off to Positano in paradise for a 3 night stay. When we were ready, we were picked up again and had an amazing drive to the Tivoli Gardens and then our final destination in Rome. I highly recommend having the team drive you to wherever you need to go, believe me, it will be fun and full of adventure. My family and I will definitely be back on the Amalfi Coast and can’t wait to see Gio and the team again.

I can`t wait to go back actually my sister got back and took the pompeii trip one haha so I am missing my second chance ;)

from LONDON

This is now my third tour with Gio Lovely tours this summer. My partner and I had another amazing day with Gio seeing more sights of the Amalfi coast. I had experienced Gio's wonderful hospitality and service first in 2015 when I travelled with my Mum who was visiting me in the UK from Australia. Then in 2018 with my sister who was also visiting from Australia, this time we stayed in Positano for a week. We have had Gio all three times and he offers the best service that one can experience. Welcoming, friendly, warm, engaging and you can see the passion and how proud he is of the area he lives in and you cannot help but immerse yourself into his world. He is punctual, he is also has a great sense of humour and a beautiful Italian singing voice :-) he is very open to the world we live in and loves people from all walks of life. If you are looking to go to Italy and seeing this beautiful coast line please look Gio lovely tours up, you will never be disappointed. Also to note I have a had another tour with another person from Gio Lovely tours and he was amazing too. Please know two of our tours were pick and return to Naples and one other tour and driving was pick up Naples, drop off Positano and return to Rome by car stopping off at Tivoli Gardens. This was on top of the day tours we had to Sorrento, Positano and Pompeii. Please look no further. Thank you to Gio and the team. My family and I wish you all the very best during this difficult time and hope the tourism industry returns to what it was very soon and you can get back doing what you do best....Clint & Lee x

Had an absolute amazing time with Gio. Will always treasure our memories.

from Indianapolis

I had the WONDERFUL good fortune of touring the indescribable Amalfi Coast with Gio in October 2015, along with my friend Anna. Gio is warm and friendly, and handsome to boot! His knowledge of the history and current events of the area is amazing, and our tour was as much fun while we were in the van with him as were the visits to restaurants and shops. He sang to us and kept us totally entertained! My only regret was when it ended.... I HIGHLY recommend Lovely Amalfi Coast Tours! They do not disappoint!

from Coral Springs

Hands down, the best tour of our family trip ! Gio was amazing and made the day most memorable and the one we speak of most often. Can not wait to be able to travel again and go back and see more with Gio and Amalfi Coast Tours! Like traveling with family:)
