Amalfi coast Drive (Positano Photo Stop) - Sorrento and Pompeii

The tour will begin after you meet your private driver who will be easily recognizable due to the sign on which will be written your name and our agency logo at the port where your cruise ship will be docked. After a brief presentation your private driver will accompany you at the luxurious vehicle where and will offer you every comfort you need. Furthermore he will give you important information about the day tour and the places that you are going to visit. Finally, let's get started your dream Private Tour !

Your driver will take you on a coastal drive to the famous Amalfi Coast. He will stop few times along the way to take fantastic panoramic photos of you with the famous Sorrento, Gulf of Napoli and Amalfi Coast scenary in the background. During the tour,  some cultural and gastronomic general information about the area will be provided along the way (inside the vehicle) by your private driver. Then, you will find yourselves driving to Positano for an incredible Photo Stop at the ‘Madonnina’ for the best view of Positano from the top. See the houses clung to the mountainside like white sugar lumps coated in brightly coloured bougainvillea tumbling down to a small, beach and warm blue Mediterranean sea. 

After Positano photo stop, we will then drive to Sorrento. Arrived in the city of Sorrento, the private driver will leave you in the historical square called Piazza Tasso for your free time but first of all he will show you the fastest way to go to inner part of the city where you can visit the old churches, museums, the beautiful buildings and the landscapes. You can visit the factories of famous Limoncello; an alcoholic drink made by lemons, sugar and water, a typical Italian product.

At this point it’s time for a nice lunch, trust our staff and you will enjoy a incredible meal made by local ingredients, such as seafood and handmade fresh pasta. Alternatively you can have a pizza or a panino, something quicker but equally delicious. Stopping for lunch will be according to your needs and your time.

On the way to Pompeii, we will drive by Mt. Vesuvius, the volcano responsible for one of the most famous historical events in Italy. The old city of Pompeii is located at the base of the Vesuvius and was flourish during the Period of the Roman Empire. After the eruptions of the Volcano in 79 B.C the city has been destroyed and covered by ashes and lapillus. The Archeological dig started in 1748 and in three centuries only 3/5 part of the city has been discovered. Now the city has been declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO and 3.750.000 tourists each year come to visit it.

Before leaving your private driver please agree upon the time to leave in order to reach your cruise ship on time. During the ride to the port, you can reminisce about your lovely day mixed with ancient Roman history and one of the most famous coastlines in the world!

  • We recommend to add the extra service of the private guide for the ruins, in this way we can provide you “Skip the line” entrance tickets. Tickets will be paid (in cash) to your guide at the entrance and it is 18 Euro for Adults. It is Free of Charge up to 18 yrs old (they need to show their passaport or ID).
  • Gratuity can be paid to the driver at your discretion (it is not mandatory in italy)

General Informations

All our drivers have been trained to give a tour along the route as you are driven to your destinations, however due to strict Italian laws regulating and protecting licensed tour guides our drivers cannot do this outside of the vehicle, in the towns, sites and museums.

In the very rare event that there is an internal assembly or strike in Pompeii, unfortunately they usually do not advise of this in advance.

Kid Friendly: YES (This tour is suitable for children as long as they are supervised by a parent).

Please , comunicate the age of kids up to 6 years old in order to provide a baby car seat.

We reserve the right to change the order in which we visit the sites.

Passengers with a Reduced Mobility (PRM) Friendly : YES (you must enjoy walking short distances and be able to get in and out of minivan and minibus).

DURATION OF THE TOUR: 8 hours

Passaport Holders under 18 years are entitled to free admission to State owned archaeological sites (Pompeii, Herculaneum, Etc.) and museums, upon production of a valid photo identity document.

The client must know that we will provide this tour despite bad weather.

According to our driver on the day , we can also arrange a different tour. This is something possible caused by the traffic , strikes, extreme weather, landslide / mudslide, closed road, etc.

Please be advised that some shops or sites may be closed during the off-season (mid-November through mid-March)

We booked a private tour of the Amalfi Coast from our cruise ship - Naples Port. Our driver, Giovanni, was great -- informative, great personality, and experienced driver, punctual, and spoke English very well. He was very knowledgeable and provided recommedations when asked. He provided a schedule for each stop which gave us plenty of time to enjoy the sites we wanted to take in this trip. Since this was not our first time to Naples, we requested to go to Ravello, Amalfi, Positano and Sorrento. The scenery was spectacular

We arrived at the port of Salerno on Serenade of the Seas and was picked up by Giovanni. What an amazing tour guide! Very knowledgeable, friendly and polite throughout the entire tour. He stopped for photos and gave us enough time to spent in Positano and Sorrento and even recommended a good restaurant in Sorrento. From our booking via internet until our drop off at the port again was just so professional! Can recommend them 110%!!

This was the best tour of our 12 day mediterranean cruise. Our driver was soooo knowledgable and got us to both Herculeum (better than Pompei) and Pompei before the crowds did. He then took us to this AMAZING lunch on Mt. Vesuvius (cantina) and we had the best authentic meal of the trip. We got to get a private winery tour and taste amazing wine. Next we hiked up Mt. Vesuvius... it was so much fun! I would recommend this to anyone my husband and I had a blast!

Because of our smaller vehicle, we climbed to heights in Positano that buses couldn't reach and had our favourite lunch of the trip at Trattoria La Tagliata--magnificent views, delicious home-style Italian food and very friendly staff! We had a wonderful time on our tour of Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast with Lovely Amalfi Tours and our driver Giovanni. We were part of a group of 16 people - 8 each in two vans - organized by someone else on our cruise. Lovely Amalfi Tours arranged for a tour guide to take us through Pompeii at minimal cost since there were so many of us. It was excellent! We were the first group to arrive at Pompeii that morning, just as they were unlocking the gates, so had very few other tourists at the site with us. The drive of the coast was beautiful with lots of stops for pictures. They organized a group lunch for those that wanted it, but were flexible in allowing those that didn't to stay longer in Positano and grab their own lunch. I would certainly recommend this company and wouldn't hesitate to book with them in the future.
