Amalfi coast Drive (Amalfi - Ravello) - Herculaneum

Your private driver will greet you at your Hotel / accommodation (or Naples train station), after a brief presentation you will be accompanied to the luxurious vehicle where our staff will offer you every comfort you need. After that they will give you important information about the tour and the places that you are going to visit. Finally, let's get started your dream Private Tour !

Your driver will drive you up to the famous Milky Mountains and he will give you chance to take an incredible pic of Mt. Vesuvius and Naples area from that beautiful chain mountains. Once arrived in Ravello, you will have time to visit this lovely little town , famous for its nature and for the Villas like Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo, whose gardens are full of different kind of flowers, plants and trees, especially lemon and orange trees for whom the coast is famous. Villa Rufolo sits on a ledge that has attracted thousands of visitors over the years, thanks, in large part, to the inspiration it provided Giovanni Boccaccio in his Decameron and as the location where Richard Wagner composed the second act of his opera “Parsifal” in 1880.Each summer since 1953 the “Ravello Festival” has honored Wagner with concerts held on the dramatic Villa Rufolo stage overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea.

After this incredible visit, your driver will take you on a coastal drive (the famous Amalfi Coast) heading to Amalfi town. This one is such an important city for the Campania region that it gives its name to the entire coast. Here you can find several touristic spots such as the cathedrals next to the sea, the shopping streets, the museums and the square “Piazza del Duomo” and its unique church, the beautiful "Sant'Andrea Cathedral".The Amalfi Cathedral is a striking structure with 62 steps leading to its entrance. Its façade is Arabic-influenced Romanesque with a bold mix of stripes, arches, mosaics and textures. The bell tower and cupola are decorated with green and yellow tiles. The heavenly Cloister of Paradise is home to the tombs of Amalfi's wealthy merchants and features Moorish styling in white marble. The Crypt of St. Andrew is located in an altar decorated with beautiful Baroque murals dating from 1660.

At this point it’s time for a nice lunch, trust our staff and you will enjoy a incredible meal made by local ingredients, such as seafood and handmade fresh pasta. Alternatively you can have a pizza or a panino, something quicker but equally delicious. Stopping for lunch will be according to your needs and your time.

The eruption of the Vesuvius, that destroyed Pompeii, hit the city of Herculaneum too with a huge tsunami of dirt and lava. But unlike Pompeii, the city of Herculaneum preserved wooden buildings and any sort of goods. Therefore for archeological studies is a very important site. Sculptures, paints, vases and so on are now in the “Archeological Museum of Naples” and in the “Antiquarium”.Ancient tradition connected Herculaneum with the name of the Greek hero Heracles, an indication that the city was of Greek origin. There is, however, historical evidence that toward the end of the 6th century BC a primitive nucleus of Oscan-speaking inhabitants came under Greek hegemony there and that in the 4th century BC Herculaneum came under the domination of the Samnites. The city became a Roman municipium in 89 BC, when, having participated in the Social War (“war of the allies” against Rome), it was defeated by Titus Didius, a legate of Lucius Cornelius Sulla.

Before leaving your private driver please agree upon the time to leave. Then the driver will recommend a suitable time to get back to your hotel/ accommodation (or Naples train station) after this lovely day!.

This was hands down the best tour we have ever been on! Communication was quick and easy from the beginning. They were sure to confirm our tour and my requests. We started off getting off on the wrong train stop, as I did not realize there were 2 Naples stops! Giovanni was so kind and flexible and ended up driving further out to come pick us up! He did not have to offer that because it was totally my fault, but I am so grateful that he did! He was very kind and welcoming. The van was comfortable and roomy. Right away Gio made us feel like family. We felt as though we were actually being shown around by a close friend or family member, rather than just a tour guide. He was fun and informative. As soon as he found out my husband's name was Rocky, he played "Eye of the Tiger" and they pretty much hit it off and became BFFs! We started in Pompeii, which was amazing! I highly recommend paying for the private tour guide, otherwise you will not really know what you are looking at. There is not much signage. I felt that you need the guide to explain things so you can fully appreciate where you are and what you are seeing. Next we started towards Amalfi coast and it was breath taking at every turn. We stopped at a lemon farm for a private lunch. What an experience! All the food was so fresh and the service was top notch! We literally felt as if we were having a meal at a relatives house. Just AMAZING! We continued on and Gio dropped us off in Positano for some shopping! After that we headed back to Naples. I was so sad that it was ending. It was our first full day of vacation, and what a way to start off! This company does not give tours, they give experiences! Amazing, unforgettable experiences, with memories to last a lifetime! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making this trip so special! Don't hesitate to use them...just GO!

Had the best day ever with our tour guide Giovanni. We were picked up at the docks and he asked what would we like to see. We asked him what he recommended. We started out on a trip to Ravello. We walked and took pictures of the most beautiful gardens. After a little shopping we headed to Sorento. We stopped at a lemon tree farm and were treated to Italian delicacies. Giovanni was the most entertaining, fun loving young man. I would recommend him 100%.

from Lemoyne

Our day spent in the Napoli area was made more special because Giovanni made sure we had an excellent experience. His energy and sense of humor made our day so much more fun. I liked the company’s upfront pricing and loved where he took us for lunch. Would definitely recommend!

Enrich, Enrico, Enrico! Fabulous experience on a day trip direct from our doorstep to the lovely towns of Positano and Sorrento. A quiet delicious lunch spot shared with us overlooking Bikini beach was extra special with the most delicious paninis ! We opted for the tour guide at Pompeii, Mike, who shared so much with us that we would never have appreciated in our two hours otherwise. Another super delightful person. As soon as we were done in Pompeii Enrico was right there to meet us and return us back to our doorstep. We will never forget our time with Enrico, his knowledge of the area and the sharing of his family stories as well. We will definitely seek out Lovely Amalfi tours (and Enrico) on our future excursions. @Enrico, we will spend some time in Napoli next! Thank you for everything especially keeping my family safe and laughing the whole time!

Gio was the best tour guide we had on our day trip along the Amalfi Coast. He asked what we wanted to do and arranged it. He had us laughing but was also very informative with the different places we visited. Thank you Gio for making our last day here in Italy so memorable.

Giovanni and the entire team at Lovely Amalfi Tours are incredible. From the day we booked to the day we flew home the whole team made sure our trip was as amazing as possible. The entire team is friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. Lovely Amalfi Tours went above and beyond. We thought we were just booking a tour, but in reality we ended up with a guide. Giovanni had all of the best recommendations for the area, set us up at an incredible restaurant during our tour and even called restaurants on our behalf to get us the best reservations after the tour was over. The tour was fun, informative, comfortable and safe. The Amalfi Coast is an intimidating drive, but Giovanni and his team are obviously experts at navigating the tough terrain. We had lots of laughs, chats and dancing with Giovanni throughout the tour and we can’t wait to come back to experience the breathtaking scenery with Lovely Amalfi Tours again soon. If you are planning a trip to Amalfi, Giovanni and his team should be the first call you make! Thank you so much Giovanni and the entire Lovely Almafi Coast team for your warm hospitality and once in a life time experience you gave us! We can’t wait to come back to visit and book again! ❤️🇮🇹
